Soundnews: Harmony µDAC Probably The Nicest R2R DAC Under $1K

We’re thrilled to share a fantastic new review of our LAiV µDAC, and it's coming from none other than Sandu from Soundnews. If you've followed Sandu’s previous deep dive into our Harmony DAC, you’ll know he doesn’t hand out praise lightly. So when he calls this latest review “a special day,” it means something.

In his own words:

“This little fellow uses the same R2R ladder modules and FPGA digital processing [as the Harmony DAC]… Even the measurements are incredibly similar.”

Yes, you read that right—the µDAC shares the same sonic DNA as our flagship Harmony DAC. You’re getting the same meticulously tuned R2R ladder DAC core and precision FPGA digital processing that earned the Harmony its glowing reputation. What’s changed? A more minimal footprint and a more accessible price point—just under a grand.

Naturally, some features had to be streamlined:

  • No RCA outputs

  • We’ve left out the remote control in the package (but it support the same remote control!)

  • Left out the heavier-duty power filtering found in Harmony.

But the sound? It’s still all LAiV.

“The same outstanding sonics that LAiV Audio is known for, now at a more affordable price.”

We’re grateful for Sandu’s honest and enthusiastic coverage. Check out the full video review and hear his impressions firsthand.

Thank you, Sandu, and thank you to all the listeners out there who continue to support our journey to make high-end audio more approachable—without compromising on what matters.
